I decided to make a facebook group for TWOHA. But I made a stupid mistake...I got the name of the group wrong. I wrote to Write On Her Arms. But hey, people make mistakes...right? I just make too many.
I started promoting TWLOHA online, im writing blogs and i made a facebook group. I will be promoting it once I get to the pageant. And then I'll be talking about TWLOHA all year!
I recently joined a group called Share the Love. I became Admin, I will be promoting that cause also, but not on this blog.
Well I have tro go back to work.
xoxo,
ESHITA

FACTS

Depression is one of the leading causes of disability, with approximately 121 million people suffering with depression worldwide. Approximately 18 million people suffer from depression in America alone. Depression does not discriminate across age, race, gender, or class. Among teenagers it is estimated that 20 percent will suffer from depression at some point by the time they reach adulthood. There are also as many as 8.3 percent of teens suffering from depression for at least a year at a time, compared to 5.3 percent of the general population.
Depression often co-occurs with anxiety disorders and substance abuse, with 30 percent of teens with depression also developing a substance abuse problem. 2/3 of those suffering from depression never seek treatment.
Untreated depression is the number one cause of suicide, and suicide is the third leading cause of death among teenagers.
While not always the case, often untreated depression and other struggles lead to unhealthy ways in which we try and deal with the hurt and pain we are feeling. We try and find anything that we can do to take away the hurt, painful feelings, or negative thoughts we are experiencing. Often the things that we turn to seem to help at first, appearing to provide some of the relief that we need so badly. But, even though they may seem like they help, often they are unhealthy themselves, eventually becoming even greater struggles like addictions such as drugs, alcohol, eating disorders, or self-injury.

Most people that know me, know that I've always wanted to be Miss USA or something like that. Well, this year I am actually going a pageant! I've decied to go to the MIss Teen New York International pageant. The reason I choose this pageant syestem is simple: its platform based.
I get to speak about something I believe in. I decieded to speak about TWLOHA. Many people don't know about self abuse, and if they do-they think emo people do things like that. Well, there happens to be a alot of non-emos who cut themselves or think of sucide.
There have been records of emo bashing: such as in Mexico. People look down on emo people, and maybe thats the reason why they cut themselves. I want to make this problem known to others.
So wish me luck!

TWLOHA is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for those struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.
To Write Love on Her Arms began in Orlando, FL in February 2006 as a (written) story, the true story of five days spent with a friend who was denied entry into a drug treatment center. The story was a look at those five days, and the t-shirts were printed and sold initially as a way to pay for the friend's treatment.
We want to educate and encourage people so that they understand these issues, so they can walk with friends who are dealing with these things.
